As the Assistant Risk Manager, you will be reporting directly to the CRO and the Head of Risk Management.  You will be within the second line risk function for the company and responsible for the identification, remediation, communication and escalation of operational risk, credit risk, market risks, reputational risks, information security, strategic and fraud risk. You will also support in the implementation of the Third-Party Risk Management framework and the Due Diligence of Third Parties.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

- Support the embeddedness of the risk culture:

  • Support with the development and integration of the Risk Management Framework, Risk Appetite Statements and other Risk Policies and Procedures across the various business activities / functions of the group.
  • Support the risk team with the bottom-up risk mapping process (RCSA) across the various business activities / functions of the group as well as the top-down risk mapping process.
  • Assist with developing the group’s control environment, leading to an enhanced risk and control approach.

- Third Party Risk Management (Outsourcing):

  • Help and support the integration and configuration of the Third-Party Risk Management framework, so to ensure consistency with local processes.
  • Identifying, assessing, and mitigating third party risks. Identified via on-boarding, service providers and suppliers’ analysis. Performing due diligence and ongoing monitoring of third parties.
  • Documentation of Reports following reviews and monitoring any remediation activity.

- Support the business in the identification and management of risks, to ensure risk management is in line with the firm’s strategy, risk appetite and business plans:

  • Support in the collation, on-going monitoring and interpretation of key indicators and their respective thresholds across the business activities of the group.
  • Work with the group risk team to assist in the identification of emerging risks and correlations.
  • Identify, monitor, communicate and assess the impact of emerging risks / regulations and support the implementation of pragmatic and commercial solutions.

- Contribute to a strong governance structure and risk management and where appropriate, ensuring implementation of best practice across the entity and the group:

  • Assisting the group risk team with specific initiatives as appropriate e.g. implementation of risk management tools.

- Provide support to the Head of Risk and group Risk team to achieve group risk’s objectives:

  • Provide ad-hoc assistance to the group risk team in order to assist with development.
  • Develop to become the first point of contact for any questions relating to the entity’s risk team and / or support.

- Reporting and Management Information:

  • Assist in establishing a comprehensive risk reporting system / process.
  • Supports in defining organisation key risk / performance indicators (KRIs / KPIs) for evaluating risk management performance, strategy, processes, and controls.
  • Ensure reporting is continuously developed, accurate and produced to time, to the appropriate audience.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 2+ years’ experience within a CySEC regulated firm or another similar regulatory environment. (Risk/Trading/Compliance/Finance/Internal Audit)
  • Experience and understanding of regulatory capital, including the ICAAP, ILAAP, ICARA and stress testing
  • Experience of undertaking Third Party reviews would be advantageous
  • CySEC Advanced certification holder
  • Ability to understand the concepts of risk management associated with:
    • Operational risk, including cyber and business continuity
    • Use of outsource services and third-party providers
    • Financial management, particularly capital and liquidity management
    • Management and understanding of market and credit risk in a retail client base
    • Management, handling, and protection of data, including potential cyber risk
    • Conduct risk
    • Reputation
    • Technology and infrastructure risks
