Core Network Planning Engineer I Cyprus - Nicosia

Our client is one of the largest telecommunication companies in Cyprus. They are seeking to hire a Core Network Planning Engineer to join their team in Nicosia.

As Core Network Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for helping in designing, dimensioning, planning, delivering, and reporting for the Core Networks. Furthermore, providing cost optimized, reliable and high-performance Core Networks solutions, according to the Company’s overall strategic targets and the guidelines given by the Core Networks Planning Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Planning, designing, dimensioning (hardware and software) the elements of the Core Networks, preparing and applying detailed configuration instructions.
• Designing and dimensioning the intra- and inter-connectivity with other networks and/or high-level elements of the network (e.g. IMS, MSS, MGW, MME, SGSN, S/P-GW, GGSN, MGCF, BSC, RNC).
• Instructing and authorizing configuration changes and implementation of new and existing elements in the Core Networks.
• Implementing configuration changes of new and existing elements in the Core Networks.
• Ordering hardware, features, functionalities and software releases for the Core Networks and preparing customer solutions in the Core Networks.
• Generating performance and optimization reports for the elements of the Core Networks and participating in the acceptance tests of new elements and features in the Core Networks.
• Contacting vendors, exchanging information for software and hardware upgrades and analyzing overall network impact of proposed configuration changes.
• Studying new technologies and proposing improvements in the Core Networks and documents network configurations, maintaining an updated library with the configurations of the network.
• Monitoring daily health of the Core Network Elements and working to solve issues that might arise.
• Receiving and troubleshooting customer complaints as reported by Customer Care agents in a timely manner, being a part of an on-call support scheme for critical incidents

Requirements:

• Degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering or Computer Science
• Postgraduate degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, preferably with a specialization in Telecommunications or Networks will be considered as an advantage
• 2 - 3 years’ work experience in a similar role
• Knowledge of signalling systems, e.g. SS7, SIGTRAN, ISUP, MAP, SIP will be considered an advantage
• Knowledge of mobile and fixed/DSL network concepts, architectures and communication flows and LAN/WAN switching and routing technologies and protocols
• Capability to generate, analyse measurement reports and very strong analytical/ problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of Unix or Linux
• Fluent in Greek and English
