Our client is a FinTech company that democratises the financial markets through easy access to free trading of stocks, ETFs, forex and commodities. With one of the most popular trading apps in the world and holding the UK's number 1 trading app position since 2016, our client offered the first zero-commission stock trading service in the UK and Europe that gave access to the stock market to millions of customers and is testament to their success to date.

Due to the expansion of their Cyprus CySEC regulated office, they are seeking to hire a Deputy Head Compliance Officer to join the local team in Limassol, Cyprus.  

 

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Report directly to the Head Compliance Officer
  • Assist with day-to-day compliance in line with regulatory and legal requirements and the company’s policies and procedures
  • Perform risk assessments in relation to compliance risks
  • Assist in the drafting of compliance-related reports to the authorities (CySEC, NCAs, CBC, etc.)
  • Draft, modify and implement the company's policies, procedures and handbooks, as needed to reflect industry best practices, the evolving regulatory environment and changes to the business
  • Research, identify and report on a wide variety of compliance-related matters due to the introduction of new legislation or best practices
  • Maintain oversight of relevant Compliance registers
  • Add in the function’s strategic planning and decision making
  • Liaise with auditors/examiners during compliance audits/examinations as assigned
  • Evaluate compliance systems and ensure their adequacy thereof
  • Perform desk-based reviews of the company’s functions, systems and procedures
  • Undertake any other compliance and legal-related matter and project, as assigned


Requirements & Experience:

  • Law Degree (LLB or LLM) preferred
  • CySEC Advanced certification and CySEC AML certification
  • 4+ years experience in a legal and compliance-related role in an EU investment Firm
  • Ability to use independent judgment
  • Detailed knowledge of laws and regulations affecting business operations
  • Ability to interpret and advise on the application of various laws and regulations
  • Able to multitask, work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Able to work on own initiative, independently, prioritize workload and pay attention to details
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Greek

An excellent package is on offer with a salary range of EUR 45,000 - 60,000 gross/year depending on experience and qualifications.
